National Development Planning Commission
On Monday, July 28, 2025, the Chairman of NDPC and Advisor to the President on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, convened a meeting with various sub-committees established to prepare the Coordinated Programme of Economic and Social Development Policies (CPESDP), at the Commission’s Conference Room.
The meeting aimed to clarify the roles and responsibilities of each sub-committee in the preparation of the CPESDP, a constitutionally mandated policy document that articulates the President’s vision, and required to be submitted to Parliament within two years of a new administration.
The established sub-committees are: Economic Development; Social Development; Environment, Infrastructure and Spatial Development; Governance and Institutional Development; International Relations; and the Editorial Committee. Each sub-committee was tasked with developing thematic content to inform the CPESDP.
To enhance accessibility and public understanding, the Chairman emphasised the need for clear and concise language, and the strategic use of visuals and illustrations. All committees are expected to submit their initial draft inputs by the third week of August 2025.
The CPESDP will outline Ghana’s development agenda around four core goals: building a prosperous country; creating opportunities for all; safeguarding the environment; and ensuring national unity and safety.
